Victory was achieved with the Art of Effective Wallowing. Taking a day to actually acknowledge how you feel, and really feel it is something most of us never do. Taking the next day to pump it out of your system is something even less of us do. And frankly until I was bruised by life's latest round of kickboxing to my heart - I always just ignored it, ate through it, drank too much wine through "it".
But it turns out - if you actually allow yourself to FEEL the hurt, the mad, the sad, the offended, the lost, if you actually allow yourself to understand why something hurts and respect yourself enough to know that you deserve the right to be any of the emotions listed before, they go away a little bit quicker. And you are less likely to gain emotional and actual poundage in the process.
So after a heart pounding, street beating, lotsa emphatic talking while running, dash with my best friend yesterday - I was feeling a bit better. Not to lose momentum, I woke up early, enjoyed a delicious bowl of my Trim 360 Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal, got promptly productive (sorry no time for you today Matt Lauer), worked for a few hours and then hit the gym. And when I say hit the gym - I'm pretty sure that elliptical is the one that's bruised now!
Now my Yoga teacher and I discuss the value of paying attention to one's body while running versus tuning out to tunes. Agreed - that's helping me get faster and likely will help me prevent injury. Sometimes however, you really need to just rock out to music that makes you feel strong, belts out how you are feeling, and can become a catalyst to get your sunshine back.
